Wild IslandThis report, prepared by Nick Fitzgerald for The Wilderness Society, provides a spatial analysis of conservation priorities across Tasmania.  The analysis covers the whole state, regardless of land tenure, incorporating a wide range of conservation values.  This project sets conservation targets based on “what nature needs”, rather than the minimum area protection targets often used for policy and planning.

Environmental groups will be advocating for this spatial analysis to be used by Councils to identify priority conservation areas within their municipalities.
